Data Retention

Non Registered (General) Users

Stompslide doesn't track users or keep details of any personal or identifiable information beyond what is used to (optionally) register, which is explained below.

For each user, a cookie is used to store the value of the city selected. This is used to ensure that the user gets the same city they selected each time they visit, rather than it being reset and having to select it again. At the moment, as only one city is available, this value will always be the same.

Vercel analytics are used to help us get a general idea of visits to the site so we can understand what is working and what is not. This doesn't retain any personal information or identifiable data, just anonymous data like cities, browsers and which pages were visited the most. Please search for vercel analytics and look at what it stores if you have any concerns.

Registered Users

If a person signs up as a registered user, Stompslide stores your supplied username, email address and password. The password is stored hashed, meaning we have no idea what it is and cannot retrieve it for anyone, including the user themselves. If you ever forget it, you will need to reset it.

Your email address is stored for the purposes of confirming that you are the owner of your account (such as if you forget your password, as above) and essential communications. We will not spam you or provide your email address to any other person or body unless required to by law.

For each user, three cookies are stored: The first stores the value of the city selected, so that the user gets the same city on each visit rather than having to reselect it each time. The final two cookies store hashed tokens that keep the user signed in, if they have chosen to sign in. They have no personal information in them, they don't keep track of any activity, and are only available to the user signed in, on the device they have signed in on.

Currently we have not implemented registering, so this policy is not in effect.

Event Data

Event data is stored in a database and is only accessible to the site owners. This data is used to display events on the site, and is not used for any other purpose. We only display and store information already made publicly available by the event organisers, that aids in describing the event and its location.

Policy Choices

Why do you need me to register?

Users are only required to register if they want to add any event information. Without registration, a free-for-all policy potentially leads to chaotic submissions. As well as this, it's much easier to manage event creation and editing policies, e.g. allowing or preventing users from altering an existing event created by another user.

Currently we have not implemented registering, so this policy is not in effect.
